Damiano Ciolli
Damiano Ciolli, with the collaboration of his longtime partner Letizia Rocchi, produces wine from the grape Cesanese D’Affile in Olevano Romano, a small medieval town situated just south of Rome. Both Damiano and Letizia worked and studied extensively in vineyards throughout the world, Letizia eventually earning her PhD in enology and grapevine physiology. In 2001 Damiano took over his family’s estate. He is the 4th generation of his family to make wine here and the first to bottle his own production. Originally the family wine was sold in demi- johns, to only their neighbors and local osterias. Upon their return they were quick to notice the potential of their native Cesanese D’Affile. With their collective experience this couple crafts wines that showcase this often-overlooked grape as well as the terroir of their unique estate.
