Michel Autran began working in wine in his early 40’s. Previously an emergency physician he sought a change, so with a desire to work with his hands and an interest in the life as a vigneron, he left his practice. In 2006, equipped only with a novices’ knowledge of wine, he prioritized the subsequent years to studying under the prominent vignerons of the Vouvray and Montlouis regions. Michel leased his first plot of vines in 2011. Located in Vouvray, this .5 ha of Chenin Blanc has since expanded to 3.2 ha of vine located over two plots. Michel is disinterested in further expansion, as the estate’s size allows him to work the entirety of it alone. Devoted from the vine to the cellar, he meticulously carries out each task himself. A delivery of his focus and intent echo throughout his wines, wrought with energy, precise and pure.
