Sergio Arcuri

Sergio Arcuri was born into a successive familial tradition dating back to 1880. He is the fourth generation to cultivate the seaside vineyards around Cirò, a small remote town in Calabria. This region on the far side of Italy was once a bustling stop on early maritime travels, ancient Greeks and Romans alike had illustrious pasts with the local wine. The past century, however, has seen a decline within Calabrian viticulture, sliding more towards industrial productions. In 2009 Sergio bottled the first estate wine, originally the family made and sold bulk wine, thus beginning a new chapter. Carrying generations of knowledge and tradition, Sergio alongside his brother and nephew are working together to revitalize Cirò. “In the last decade, the recovery that started from Cirò finally began. I am one of the pioneers along with other winemakers who started bottling the real Cirò, we call the group the Cirò Revolution.” -Sergio Arcuri
